During the Moonsund operation of 1915, on May 21–23 (June 3–5) and August 3 (16) - 8 (21), the combined squadron of the Baltic Fleet ships repelled two attempts of the enemy forces (twice the size) to break through into the Gulf of Riga. Despite the fact that the German fleet no longer made active attempts to break through, hostilities in the area continued until November 1915.
