Father Alexy (secular name Vasily Timofeevich Okoneshnikov (Okonechnikov) ) (1875– after 1913) was the priest of the cruiser Rurik (13.03.1903–01.08.1904). He took part in the battle of 08.01.1904 in the Korea Strait, and was wounded. He was captured first, but then was released as a civilian. Arrived in St. Petersburg on 07.10.1904 by travelling through Nagasaki, Shanghai and Odessa; he was able to get a reception at the Artillery Scientific Committee, where he spoke in detail about the last battle of Rurik and transmitted the officers' reports. He also made a report on the Tsushima battle in the Russian Assembly and gave an open interview to newspapers. He wrote the memoirs of the battle.
